Participants in the third meeting of the Russian-Pakistani Military Advisory Committee on Defense and Security, held in Islamabad on Wednesday, assessed the current situation in Afghanistan. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin, who led the delegation at the meeting.

From the host side, the meeting was co-chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussein.

“A wide range of issues related to the military-political situation in Afghanistan was discussed in an in-depth and constructive manner,” Fomin said following the meeting, noting that “the need to deepen our interaction is due, among other things, to the rapid development of the situation in this country.”

The Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation stressed that the issue related to the situation in Afghanistan is one of the most important on the political agenda, in connection with which the development of constructive relations between Russia and Pakistan is an important factor in ensuring regional stability.
