During the exercise, servicemen of the helicopter unit of the Central Military District worked out the elements of piloting a rotary-wing aircraft under the influence of air defense systems of a simulated enemy in the sky near Novosibirsk.

During the flights, the crews worked out the piloting technique at extremely low altitudes – no more than 15 meters above ground level. The use of this technique makes it possible to “hide” a combat vehicle from radars and air defense systems of a conventional enemy, using the features of the terrain, but it requires the pilots to be highly skilled in using a combat vehicle. In the role of a mock enemy, special-purpose units acted, which imitated the launches of Strela MANPADS from the ground. In addition, the crews of the Mi-24 attack helicopters and the Mi-8AMTSh-V transport and assault helicopters have practiced conducting air combat with elements of complex aerobatics to gain a favorable angle of attack.

More than 5 helicopters and over 25 servicemen of a separate helicopter regiment of the Central Military District were involved in the events.
