As part of the celebration of the anniversary of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, it takes part in the All-Russian action “The Roads of Redemption” and organizes a motor rally along the route Moscow – Saint Petersburg – Veliky Novgorod – Staraya Russa – Pskov.

From 28 to 29 September, a set of events dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky is being held at the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

On September 28, at the UFSIN for employees, veterans of the penal system, as well as guests of the event, the participants of the rally held a lecture on the history of the penal system during the life of F.M. Dostoevsky and the architecture of the buildings of the places of detention of prisoners of that time, demonstrated a thematic photo exhibition in electronic form and organized a screening of the film “Tobolsk Dostoevsky’s Gate”.

In the film, viewers saw the Omsk section of the famous Kandalny tract and the Tarskiye Vorota, the location of the prison barrack where the writer was kept, the Tobolsk Gate, which was preserved in its original form, and the premises of the military hospital in which Dostoevsky wrote his Siberian Notebook. The film includes unique facts from the biography of the writer, which became known thanks to the scientific work of the Omsk historical and literary community.

After the presentation of the film, the participants of the rally visited correctional colony No. 5, where a performance was staged by the convicts together with the officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service. The play based on the story of F.M. Dostoevsky’s “A stranger’s wife and husband under the bed” was warmly received by the guests of the colony and the convicts.

Also, the participants of the rally donated books from the Russian State Library to correctional colony No. 5.
