Representatives of the defense departments of the Russian Federation and Pakistan confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation in the military field. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin following the meeting of the Russian-Pakistani military advisory committee on defense and security, held today in Islamabad.

“During the talks, a positive assessment was given to the dynamically developing mutually beneficial relations in the military field and the desire to use the accumulated potential as efficiently as possible to strengthen military cooperation was reaffirmed,” he said.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the vectors of development of relations between Moscow and Islamabad in the military field are set by regular political dialogue and constructive interaction, both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and the SCO.

“The progressive development of relations between our states and military departments is an important factor in ensuring regional stability,” Fomin said.

He drew attention to the fact that Pakistan is one of the few countries with which this year, despite the serious epidemic situation around the world, the planned joint activities continued to be actively carried out.

The Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation expressed gratitude for the traditionally high Pakistani representation in events organized by the Russian military department in 2021. According to him, the bilateral meetings held in recent years contributed to the build-up of contacts between the armed forces of Russia and Pakistan in such areas as joint exercises of the ground forces and the naval forces, as well as strengthening ties between the general staffs.
