St. Petersburg University of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia took part in the All-Russian departmental action “The Roads of Redemption”, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Dostoevsky.

As part of the action, in the cities associated with the life and work of the great writer, public lectures on the history of the penal system are held, the film “Tobolsk Dostoevsky’s Gate”, created by the Public Relations Center of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, is shown, master classes and psychological trainings are held.

“An important goal of the action is to encourage cadets of educational organizations of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia to read classical literature, to comprehend and understand it,” noted Elena Oludina, chief specialist of the Public Relations Center.

Anar Allakhverdiev, representative of the personnel department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, handed over memorable souvenirs with the symbols of the action to the cadets. In his speech, he emphasized that the University is training cadets in the most important areas – operational search activities and educational work with convicts.

“The quality of educational and social work with the convict, their resocialization and adaptation in society after release will depend on your professionalism in the future,” Anar Allahverdiev noted.

As a continuation of the event, a lecture was given by Vladimir Lebedev, Deputy Head of the FKU TsOUVR of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. It was devoted to the history of the penitentiary system, as well as to F.M. Dostoevsky.

Teachers and cadets of the University asked a lot of questions to the lecturer, noting that many facts about this historical period were previously unknown to them.

The cadets of the university presented to the guests a small theatrical performance dedicated to the life of the writer, as well as a choreographic sketch.

– Such events are necessary, especially today, when the boundaries of good and evil are erased in society, history is being rewritten. It is very important that the cadets know the history and literature from reliable documents and scientific sources, – said Deputy Head of the University Inna Uskacheva.
