On September 30, the CIS inter-ministerial consultations on international information security (IIB) were held in Moscow under the chairmanship of the Russian side.

The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan (as an observer), the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the consultations, a wide range of issues of cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of IIB provision on global and regional platforms was considered.

The parties welcomed the start of the work of a new UN Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) on security in the use of ICTs and ICTs themselves 2021-2025. The Russian delegation presented the draft resolutions of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on IIB and the concept of the UN Convention on IIB.

During the meeting, the Russian side made a presentation of the draft convention on countering the use of ICT for criminal purposes and nominated R.R. Ismailov for the post of Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union.

The participants of the consultations discussed the prospects for building up cooperation on IIB in the CIS space, including the approval of the draft Plan of priority measures for the implementation of the Strategy for ensuring information security of the CIS member states for the period up to 2030.

The parties agreed to hold the next CIS inter-foreign consultations on IIB in the first half of 2022 in Minsk.
