A group of 80 servicemen of the Algerian National People’s Army arrived at the military airfield of the Southern Military District (YuVO), based in North Ossetia, to take part in the Russian-Algerian exercise.

Upon arrival, the Algerian servicemen went through customs procedures and moved to the Tarsky South Military District, stationed in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, where a field camp was set up for the duration of the exercise.

The task of the exercise is to increase the readiness of command and control bodies, forces and means to combat terrorism. The servicemen will carry out tactical actions to search, detect and neutralize conventional illegal armed groups, find and destroy conventional explosive devices, and conduct radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance in buildings and on the ground.

The plan for the combat training of the Southern Military District in 2021 provides for the participation of the district’s military personnel in international exercises with units of the armed forces of Abkhazia, Algeria, Armenia, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and South Ossetia.

International joint activities are carried out in accordance with the plan for international military cooperation.

The exercise will last until October 11 of this year. The events involved about 80 servicemen of the Southern Military District of motorized rifle formations deployed in the North Caucasus, and about 80 servicemen of the armed forces of Algeria.
