Pilots of the Aviation Regiment of the Eastern Military District (VVO), stationed in the Trans-Baikal Territory, took part in night training flights on multipurpose helicopters Mi-8AMTSh “Terminator”. Some of the flights were carried out at extremely low altitudes using night vision devices.

In addition, the crews improved their skills in landing helicopters on unprepared sites in the dark using navigation devices. To this end, the pilots used GEO-ONV-1 night vision goggles, in the absence of external signals and internal lighting, as unmasking signs.

Flights at low altitudes make it possible to conceal equipment as much as possible from fire damage to enemy reconnaissance and air defense systems, as well as to use army aviation most effectively.

About 50 military personnel from the flight and engineering personnel took part in the training flights, up to 10 Mi-8AMTSh helicopters were involved.
