At the UMMC Sports Palace in the town of Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk Region, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia sambo championship ended, which was held from September 27 to 29. The tournament was attended by 500 athletes from 53 teams representing 47 territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

On the last day of the tournament, men’s fights in seven weight categories took place on three carpets. All athletes showed high professionalism, skill, acquired a unique sports experience of performing at a major departmental tournament.

According to the results of the championship, the first place in the team classification among the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia with more than 3000 employees was won by the sambo team of the GUFSIN of Russia in the Sverdlovsk Region. The second and third places were taken by the teams of the GUFSIN of Russia for the Perm Territory and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Omsk Region.

Among the combined territorial bodies with up to 3,000 employees, the winner was a team of sambists from the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Dagestan. The second and third places were taken by the teams of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Khakassia and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Republic of Buryatia.

The best university team at the tournament is the team of the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia (Ryazan). The second and third places were won by athletes from the Vologda Institute of Law and Economics of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Vladimir Law Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

The awards ceremony was held by the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region, Colonel of the Internal Service Yevgeny Ustinov, Honored Trainer of Russia, representative of the personnel department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, Colonel of the Internal Service Nadezhda Shemyakina and the chief judge of the competition Mikhail Sukhanov.

The competitions were held at a high level. The organizers of the sports event and the referee team made a great contribution to this.
