The best students of the Chelyabinsk Higher Military Aviation School of the Red Banner Navigators (CHVVAKUSH) will hone their flying skills on an airplane named after a graduate of the educational institution – Hero of Russia Igor Rzhavitin.
The solemn ceremony of naming the Tu-134 after the deceased pilot-navigator took place on October 2. It was attended by the parents of Igor Rzhavitin, as well as representatives of the school.
“This is the first registered aircraft in our educational institution. The best training groups will fly on this aircraft,” said Major General Igor Shvedov, head of the aviation school of navigators.
Colonel Igor Rzhavitin – was born in the city of Degtyarsk, Sverdlovsk region, in 1990 he graduated from ChVVAKUSH with honors and a gold medal, in 1999 he graduated with honors from the Test Pilot Training Center of the State Flight Test Center. V.P. Chkalov and was appointed
test navigator. For 10 years of flight test work Igor Viktorovich has mastered more than 20 types and modifications of aircraft.
For courage and courage shown in the performance of military duty in conditions associated with the risk of life, he was awarded the Order of Military Merit. He died in 2008 during an operation to force Georgia to peace. Awarded the title “Hero of the Russian Federation” (posthumously).
