The crews of the newest Mi-8MTPR-1 electronic warfare helicopters of the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Eastern Military District suppressed the air of a simulated enemy using electronic warfare systems installed on board the helicopter.

During scheduled flights, Mi-8mtpr-1 helicopters found unidentified aircraft at maximum flight range. The pilots timely and correctly assessed the situation, carried out the classification and recognition of targets.

On command from the flight control center, the crews of the army aviation of the Air Defense Forces used countermeasures and jamming on helicopters and airplanes of the imaginary enemy, completely “blinding” them at a distance of several hundred kilometers.

The ability of the memory of the electronic warfare system installed in the helicopter to store a database of various means of threat allowed the pilots to accurately determine the type of targets, select for them and deliver the most effective interference. In addition, the servicemen in a short time identified the source of the signals and carried out an optimal impact on the air targets of the “enemy”, using the ability of the jamming system to store a large volume of characteristics of technical means.

Air cover for the electronic warfare helicopters was provided by the Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters.

For reference:

Mi-8MTPR-1 is a jamming helicopter. The modification is distinguished by the absence of a ramp, a narrowed left sliding door and the absence of part of the windows, an additional antenna on the tail boom. The helicopter is equipped with an electronic warfare system, an active jamming station, which completely “blinds” the enemy within a radius of several hundred kilometers.
