On Sunday, in the hero-city of Murmansk, in honor of the 105th anniversary, a complex of solemn events took place, in which servicemen and creative teams of the Red Banner Order of Ushakov of the Northern Fleet took part.
On Komsomolskaya Street, an exhibition of weapons and military equipment of land and coastal troops and air defense forces of the Northern Fleet was deployed for Murmansk residents: armored personnel carriers BTR-80, multiple launch rocket systems “Grad”, two-link snow and swamp-going vehicles “Aleut”, anti-aircraft missile-gun complex “Pantsir-C1 “, Launchers from the S-400” Triumph “air defense system, the” Bastion “coastal missile system and other equipment.
On Lenin Avenue, a group of servicemen from the separate Kirkenes Red Banner Marine Brigade of the Northern Fleet performed before the audience. The Marines demonstrated hand-to-hand combat and small arms skills.
From the stage, the inhabitants of Murmansk were congratulated on the anniversary by the artists of the song and dance ensemble of the Northern Fleet. They performed dance numbers and several songs, including the unofficial anthem of the Northern Fleet – the song Farewell, Rocky Mountains, written during the Great Patriotic War in the Arctic by the composer Yevgeny Zharkovsky to the verses of the poet Nikolai Bukin, who fought on the Rybachy Peninsula.
As part of the celebration of the City Day, the traditional information and propaganda campaign “Military service under a contract in the RF Armed Forces is your choice” was also held. A mobile point for selecting citizens for military service under contract was deployed next to the exhibition of military equipment. From 11 am to 5 pm, everyone wishing to enter military service in the coastal units and on the ships of the Northern Fleet had the opportunity to receive consultations and legal assistance there on all issues of interest to them regarding military service.
