The admission of lieutenants-graduates of higher military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has been completed in the Northern Fleet. More than 200 lieutenants arrived in the formations and military units, of which 50% were appointed to the posts of seafarers. Already today, young officers perform combat training missions as part of ship crews.
Adaptation processes accompany a soldier throughout his life: in the process of training, the cadet masters new social roles and statuses, during the service the officer has to constantly move, changing the social environment, and after retirement it is necessary to adapt to civilian life. But the most difficult period falls on the first year of service after graduating from a military school.
In order to adapt and provide the necessary support at the new place of service, psychologists organized psychological support for lieutenants and their family members. From the very moment of arrival, psychologists of the Northern Fleet assessed the psychological state of the graduates and their professionally important qualities that affect the effectiveness of their activities. During the period of passing tests for admission to independent management of departments and divisions, the specialists of the psychological service carried out a comprehensive study of the psychological conditions of official activity, tracked the dynamics of the graduates ‘actions at the new duty station, evaluating the effectiveness of the lieutenants’ fulfillment of the assigned tasks. No less attention was paid to improving the psychological literacy of young officers.
Successful adaptation of graduates to the new conditions of activity and life in military garrisons is a guarantee of the effectiveness and reliability of officers in the future. Therefore, managing the process of their adaptation, taking into account many factors, ranging from personal characteristics to the conditions of service, is one of the priority tasks of the psychological service of the Armed Forces.
