On October 1, another round of Russian-Iranian interagency consultations on international information security (IIB) took place in Moscow.

The Russian delegation was headed by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for international cooperation in the field of information security A.V. Krutskikh. Iran was represented by acting. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Law and International Affairs, Director General of the General Directorate of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for Peace and International Security Reza Najafi.

The Russian and Iranian delegations included representatives of interested state authorities.

The agenda of the event included a wide range of issues of cooperation in the field of IIB provision on international platforms and in a bilateral format.

We exchanged views on the strategic approaches of Russia and Iran in the area of ​​IIB. We discussed the prospects for building a direct interagency dialogue on the basis of the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of information security in 2021.

The parties welcomed the start of the work of a new UN Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) on security in the use of ICTs and ICTs themselves 2021-2025. The Russian delegation presented a draft resolution on IIB of the First Committee of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the Russian side made a presentation of the draft convention on countering the use of ICT for criminal purposes, officially submitted by Russia as a national contribution to the UN specialized committee on July 27, 2021.

An agreement was reached to continue consultations and hold the next round in Tehran. Specific dates will be determined through diplomatic channels
