At the branch of the Central Naval Museum named after Emperor Peter the Great on the cruiser “Aurora” was held a meeting-conference “True teacher of the fleet: naval commander and shipbuilder Admiral A.A. Popov “, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding admiral.

The conference was organized by the Victor Konetsky Maritime Literary and Art Foundation in cooperation with the Central Naval Museum. The guests of the conference were the descendants of the legendary admiral, historians and lovers of the history of the Russian Navy, representatives of public organizations in Moscow and St. Petersburg and the museum community of the city on the Neva.

The head of the branch, Yuri Sergaev, on behalf of the director of the TsVMM Ruslan Nekhai, greeted the conference participants, thanking them for their love and careful preservation of history, for their interest in the events held by the Central Naval Museum.

Tatiana Gromova (St. Petersburg), the great-granddaughter of Admiral A.A. Popova and the granddaughter of Lieutenant General Kovanko, builder of the Russian Air Force, Captain 1st Rank V.A. Dodonov (Moscow) – historian, military journalist, A.Yu. Emelin (St. Petersburg) Deputy Director of the Russian State Archive of the Russian Navy, N.V. Manvelov (Moscow) – historian, expert of the Russian Military-Historical Society, S.A. Poberezhnik (St. Petersburg) – head of the storage department of the Central Naval Library.

The conference participants were presented with a temporary exhibition of the TsVMM branch on the Aurora cruiser, dedicated to Admiral A.A. Popov, as well as a cycle of temporary exhibitions held by the branch in 2021 and dedicated to the outstanding shipbuilders of the Russian fleet. All of them were organized for the anniversary of the Corps of Naval Engineers.
