Charitable foundations will interview applicants and equip premises for their convenience.
The results of the competition among socially oriented NGOs were summed up in Moscow – six of its winners will receive apartments for the implementation of projects of accompanied accommodation. About 60 adults from Moscow boarding schools will study independent living there.
“It is important for us to give young people from psycho-neurological boarding schools an opportunity to prepare them as much as possible for a real independent life. Once again, I want to note that non-profit organizations are strategic partners of the city in the framework of socially significant projects. We are grateful to our colleagues for their response and willingness to help in the socialization of Muscovites with mental disabilities, ”she said.
Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
The following charitable foundations were selected: Life Path, I Am !, Creative Association Krug, Emerald City, Big Change and Volunteers to Help Orphans. Each of them will receive apartments for training accommodation for five years.
Fund applications were evaluated according to several criteria. We took into account the social significance of the projects, the experience of organizing accompanied accommodation, the potential efficiency of using apartments, the availability of resources for work and the information openness of the organization.
Each NPO that won the competition will now meet with the councils of residents of residential homes and conduct interviews with applicants. After that, the funds will begin to equip the premises. This procedure is necessary to create the most favorable conditions for future residents of apartments. They may have health limitations, so they are provided with apartments in houses with lifting platforms and ramps.
This year in Moscow opened the first city educational and training hostel of the accompanied residence center. This is an apartment-type boarding house for adults. In the hostel, young people are prepared for independent or guided life. In addition, the Center for Social Adaptation has been operating since 2014. Its residential building has 88 one-room and 12 two-room apartments for independent living of people with disabilities.
Moscow also allocated housing for NGOs – in 2018, the city donated three apartments to the Life Path charity foundation, which is implementing the House under a Roof project for people with disabilities. In the same year, nine apartments were leased to the regional public organization for the promotion of social rehabilitation of persons with disabilities “Yablochko”. She implements the “Training Apartments” project for young people with mental disabilities.
