Today, October 5, more than 40 cadets of the university laid a wreath with a ribbon “Podolsk cadets from cadets of the Academy of State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia” and lit candles at the memorial to the heroes in memory of them and their heroism. The event took place in the public garden of Podolsk cadets on Kirov Street in the Podolsk city district.

On this day, exactly 80 years ago, about three and a half thousand cadets of the artillery and infantry schools were dismissed from classes by alarm and sent to the defense of Maloyaroslavets.

On October 6, 1941, a detachment of cadets arrived at the Ilyinsky combat site of the Maloyaroslavets fortified area and took up defensive positions along the Luzha and Vypreika rivers from the village of Lukyanovo to Malaya Shubinka.

In fierce battles, the combined detachments of the schools lost more than 2,500 cadets, while they destroyed about 5 thousand fascists and more than 100 enemy tanks.

Podolsk cadets held the defense for almost two weeks, gaining precious time for the approach of the reserves of regular troops and not allowing the enemy to pass to the walls of Moscow.

A screening of the film “Podolsk Cadets” was also held for the cadets of the university, and from conversations and lectures with teachers, they could learn more about those difficult days of October 1941.

For the students of the State Fire Service Academy of the EMERCOM of Russia, the feat of their peers, cadets-heroes is an example of courage and courage.
