On October 1 and 2, a master class “Basic aspects of orthopedic surgery of the foot and arthroscopy of the ankle joint” was held. This is the second course organized by specialists of the Department of Military Traumatology and Orthopedics on the basis of educational operating rooms of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy. The training course was held as part of continuing medical education activities.
The participants of the master class had the opportunity to replenish their knowledge and practical skills in the field of orthopedic foot surgery. This area of orthopedics is still relatively rarely covered at the events of additional professional education of traumatologists and orthopedists, and the need for specialists who are proficient in modern methods of surgical treatment of foot pathologies is steadily growing.
The master class included lectures, watching educational films with a detailed analysis of surgical interventions, as well as discussions with experienced specialists. But the main thing is that the course participants independently worked out the studied surgical manipulations on cadaver material under the guidance of instructors from the Department of Military Traumatology and Orthopedics.
The modern equipment of the educational operating rooms of the Department of Operative Surgery made it possible to perform both open and arthroscopic interventions. The participants highly appreciated the quality of the organization of the event and expressed a unanimous desire to participate in such master classes in the future.
The Department of Military Traumatology and Orthopedics has already planned to conduct several master classes in the cadaver laboratory in late 2021 and early 2022.
