A batch of 23 modernized T-72B3M tanks entered service with the tank unit of the ZVO combined-arms association stationed in the Kaliningrad region.

The distinctive features of the new combat vehicles in comparison with previous versions are a more powerful engine with 1130 horsepower, the latest multi-channel thermal imaging sight, a ballistic computer, an improved weapon stabilizer and an automatic target tracking.

The modernization also affected the protection of the hull: the combined multilayer armor was reinforced with side screens with reactive armor modules “Relikt”, hinged lattice screens, as well as additional reactive armor modules in a “soft” hull.

The crews of the ZVO combined arms formation will master the latest military equipment in the course of driving lessons and live firing, which are already taking place as part of control exercises during the summer period of training.
