The shipborne strike group (KUG) of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL) carried out artillery fire in the Caspian Sea at coastal and sea targets, a mock enemy. A tactical exercise at sea with KFL ship formations is carried out as part of the final audit for the 2021 academic year.

In the course of carrying out combat training missions, the small missile and artillery ships of the flotilla worked out new elements of naval combat with the transfer of fire and the distribution of targets.

According to the concept of the exercise, a detachment of warships was attacked by a simulated enemy ship group. The crew of the small missile ship (MRK) “Uglich” opened return fire on naval targets, covering the main forces. After launching a missile strike on coastal targets on the island of Chechen, the flotilla’s naval group consisting of the Veliky Ustyug, Grad Sviyazhsk and small artillery ship Astrakhan entered the sea battle. Fire from artillery mounts A-190 and anti-aircraft artillery complexes AK-306 and AK 630-M2 “Duet” destroyed all sea targets at ranges from 5 to 10 km. Air support was provided by Su-30SM and Su-34 aircraft from the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Southern Military District.

Also, the sailors worked out the elements of maneuvering ships when leaving the battle and repelling the strikes of the air attack of a conventional enemy.

In total, more than 20 warships of the flotilla, base and raid minesweepers, as well as boats and KFL support vessels were involved in the final check at the sea ranges.

The final check of the troops of the Southern Military District (YuVO) is aimed at increasing the level of combat and operational training of troops and forces of the military district, improving the forms and methods of conducting exercises, exercises and training, taking into account the evolving situation within the boundaries of responsibility.

By the decision of the commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, the integrated commissions will assess the ability of the commanders of subunits, military units and formations to make non-standard decisions in modern combat conditions, their ability to manage attached tactical groups of combat arms.

The main activities of the final check in accordance with the requirements of the commander of the Southern Military District will be carried out in a bilateral format at 25 combined-arms training grounds located on the territory of 14 constituent entities of the South of Russia, as well as at the military bases of the Southern Military District in Transcaucasia – in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
