The shipborne strike groups of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL) are returning to the Makhachkala base after a bilateral tactical exercise. As part of the final check for the 2021 academic year, the KFL ship formations worked at sea over 50 fire missions.

The crew of the small rocket ship Veliky Ustyug performed practical firing using the Kalibr missile system, and the small rocket ships Grad Sviyazhsk and Uglich performed electronic missile launches. The missile ship “Dagestan” carried out control actions over the execution of combat exercises.

The naval forces of the flotilla conducted a control and reconnaissance search for minefields with the escort of surface ships behind the trawls. The minesweepers’ crews destroyed the discovered mines by firing from artillery mounts.
Also, the naval tactical groups of the flotilla completed the tasks of maneuvering ships and approaching a naval target at a set distance, destroying a naval target with naval weapon systems. While parked in an unprotected roadstead, the personnel complied with the standards and measures for mine, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine sabotage defense of ships.
In addition, the crews practiced the search for ships of the imaginary enemy, repelling an air strike of the imaginary enemy, and also withdrawing from the battle. Aircraft from the Air Force and Air Defense Combine of the Southern Military District (YuVO) were involved in exercises at sea to simulate an air enemy.
After returning to the basing points, the crews of the ships will replenish stocks of material resources, carry out maintenance of weapons, ship systems and mechanisms.
In total, more than 20 warships and support vessels were involved in the exercises, including the missile ship “Tatarstan”, small missile ships “Uglich” and “Veliky Ustyug” “Grad Sviyazhsk”, small artillery ships, base and raid minesweepers, anti-sabotage boats P -351 project “Grachonok”, as well as sea tugs and vessels of the hydrographic service of the flotilla.

The final inspection of the Southern Military District’s troops is aimed at increasing the level of combat and operational training of troops and forces of the military district, improving the forms and methods of conducting exercises, exercises and training, taking into account the evolving situation within the boundaries of responsibility.

By the decision of the commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, the integrated commissions will assess the ability of the commanders of subunits, military units and formations to make non-standard decisions in modern combat conditions, their ability to manage attached tactical groups of combat arms.

The main activities of the final check in accordance with the requirements of the commander of the Southern Military District will be carried out in a bilateral format at 25 combined-arms training grounds located on the territory of 14 constituent entities of the South of Russia, as well as at the military bases of the Southern Military District in Transcaucasia – in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
