Commander of the Western Military District, Hero of Russia, Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev in St. Petersburg introduced the new commander of the Baltic Fleet, Vice-Admiral Viktor Liina.

Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev thanked the former fleet commander, Admiral Alexander Nosatov, for his competent and efficient work and wished him success in the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Navy.

Vice-Admiral Viktor Liina was appointed Commander of the Baltic Fleet by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated October 5, 2021.

Vice-Admiral Viktor Nikolaevich Liina was born on June 19, 1968 in the town of Pechora, Pskov Region. In 1990 he graduated from the Higher Naval School named after M.V. Frunze. In 1999, Viktor Liina became the commander of the 74th crew of the Segezha submarine missile system of the 11th submarine division of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy.

In 2010, he became the commander of the White Sea naval base of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy, and two years later he led the Troops and Forces in the North-East of Russia. In 2016, Viktor Liina was appointed First Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, and since 2019 he has served as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces. On October 5, 2021, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Vice Admiral Viktor Liina was appointed Commander of the Baltic Fleet. He was awarded the orders “For Military Merit”, “For Naval Merit”, as well as departmental medals.
