A solemn ceremony dedicated to the memory of the famous statesman, party leader, military leader Colonel-General Alexander Sergeevich Shcherbakov took place at the Kremlin wall on the eve of his 120th birthday. It was attended by the acting head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Viktor Miskovets.
– In June 1942, Alexander Sergeevich was appointed head of the Main Political Directorate of the Workers ‘and Peasants’ Red Army, Deputy People’s Commissar of the USSR, – highlighting an important stage in the glorious military biography of the general, Viktor Miskovets noted.
He also recalled that A.S. Shcherbakov is credited with restructuring the work of the Main Political Directorate in all spheres of activity – organizational-party, ideological, counter-propaganda, training political personnel and transferring 150 thousand political workers to team work, taking care of the health and life of soldiers at the front, strengthening ties between the front and rear. He worked closely with the leaders and members of the Supreme Command Headquarters, took part in the discussion of problems related to the conduct of the most important operations of the army in the field. According to the testimony of Marshal of the Soviet Union G.K. Zhukov, with the arrival of Alexander Sergeevich, the activities of the Main Political Directorate of the Red Army became especially fruitful. Marshals A.M. Vasilevsky, K.K. Rokossovsky, I.Kh. Baghramyan, Admiral of the Fleet N.G. Kuznetsov.
– Alexander Sergeevich made an outstanding contribution to the development of our country, the protection of its borders, the formation of political agencies, – concluded Viktor Miskovets.
At the end of the ceremony, which was also attended by the relatives of the outstanding military leader, veterans, cadets of the Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and Yunarmeys, the acting head of the Main Military Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, Major General Viktor Miskovets, laid flowers at the burial place of Colonel General A.S. Shcherbakov …
