A unique operation was performed at the urology clinic of the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy in Saint Petersburg. The uniqueness of the operation lies in the fact that contact crushing of stones in the bladder and in the kidney is performed simultaneously.

The patient came to the doctors with complaints of back pain. It turned out that a year ago he underwent contact crushing of the left ureteral stone, an internal ureteral stent was installed, and the patient, in violation of the doctors’ instructions for performing staged treatment, subsequently did not apply.

During this time, the stent was encrusted with stones and it was not possible to remove it in the usual way. It was decided to use a laser lithotripter to treat stones simultaneously. As a result of surgical treatment, stones in the bladder and kidney were removed at the same time. The operations were performed using minimally invasive methods through the natural urinary tract and a puncture in the kidney. After fragmentation of calculi, the stent was removed through the nephrostomy tract.

Currently, most of the operations that are performed in the treatment of urolithiasis in the urology clinic are performed using minimally invasive methods, which significantly reduces intra- and postoperative risks, and also reduces the length of hospital stay and the recovery period after surgery.
