At the Adanak training ground in Dagestan, airborne assault and reconnaissance units of the marine corps of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL) during the exercise worked out tactical actions in defense and offensive with firing from standard weapons and military equipment. The tactical exercise of the coastal troops of the CFL is carried out as part of the final check for the 2021 academic year.

According to the plan of the exercise, the Marine Corps units, as part of a battalion tactical group (BTGr), supported by artillery and mortar batteries, took up defensive positions in a selected area of ​​the terrain in the area of ​​direct contact with a conventional enemy. The servicemen carried out engineering equipment and camouflaged positions. The personnel of the airborne assault units, divided into several attacking groups, moved on armored personnel carriers BTR-82A and BTR-80 for offensive actions and a diversionary maneuver. During the training battle, the airborne assault and reconnaissance units conducted a counterattack and made an assault tactical airborne assault in full combat gear from Mi-8AMTSh “Terminator” helicopters to the rear of the defending “enemy”. As a result of well-planned tactical actions, the BTGr subunits stopped the offensive of the mock enemy.

At the final stage of the exercise, the servicemen performed live fire from all types of small arms and grenade launchers and hit more than 300 target positions imitating tracked, wheeled vehicles and infantry.

In total, about 500 servicemen took part in the exercise, about 50 units of military and special equipment were involved, as well as Mi-8AMTSh “Terminator” transport and combat helicopters.

The final check of the troops of the Southern Military District (YuVO) is aimed at increasing the level of combat and operational training of troops and forces of the military district, improving the forms and methods of conducting exercises, exercises and training, taking into account the evolving situation within the boundaries of responsibility.

By the decision of the commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, the integrated commissions will assess the ability of the commanders of subunits, military units and formations to make non-standard decisions in modern combat conditions, their ability to manage attached tactical groups of combat arms.

The main activities of the final check in accordance with the requirements of the commander of the Southern Military District will be carried out in a bilateral format at 25 combined-arms training grounds located on the territory of 14 constituent entities of the South of Russia, as well as at the military bases of the Southern Military District in Transcaucasia – in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
