A solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the 61st Airborne Troops Championship (Open Championship of Russia) and the 2nd Cup for the prize of the Commander of the Airborne Forces in parachuting took place on the territory of the Ivanovo Guards paratrooper unit of the Airborne Forces.

The participants of the competition were congratulated by the Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces for airborne training, Lieutenant General Alexander Vyaznikov, who presented the winners and prize-winners of the Airborne Forces championship in various nominations and the 2nd Cup of the Commander of the Troops in Parachuting with medals, certificates and valuable gifts.

The team of the 309th Center for Special Parachute Training of the Airborne Forces from the city of Ryazan became the winner of the championship in the team championship. The second place was taken by servicemen representing the Central Military District. The third place was won by the paratroopers of the Tula Guards Airborne Force.

The Airborne Troops Commander’s Cup in parachuting among teams, which was held for the second time this year, was won by paratroopers from the Novorossiysk Guards Airborne Assault Mountain Formation of the Airborne Forces. The second place and the corresponding cup were awarded to the servicemen of the Pskov Guards Airborne Assault Formation. The cup for the third place in a bitter struggle was won by the paratroopers of the separate guards air assault brigade of the city from the city of Ussuriysk.

Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces for airborne training, Lieutenant General Alexander Vyaznikov, thanked the participants of the competition for their achievements and active participation in the preparation and holding of competitions in parachuting in the city of Ivanovo. In total, during the championship, more than 140 athletes-skydivers, representing 16 teams, made more than 1,300 parachute jumps from helicopters and military transport aircraft.

The championship was held from September 28 to October 10 this year. in the city of Ivanovo, on the basis of the Ivanovo airborne forces compound and the territory of the Yasyunikha airfield.

The championship was attended by teams of formations and military units of the Airborne Forces, the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelov, the Center for Special Parachute Training of the Airborne Forces, Aerospace Forces, Western, Central, Southern and Eastern Military Districts, DOSAAF Russia and other organizations.

More than 140 athletes-parachutists, including multiple world and European champions, world record holders in parachuting, applied for participation in the competition. The participants of the championship competed in individual and group jumps for landing accuracy, as well as jumps for individual and group parachute acrobatics. As a result of the competition, the parachutists made more than 1,300 jumps.
