The crews of the MiG-31BM fighter-interceptors, the Su-34 fighter-bombers and the Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft of the Central Military District (TsVO) began to perform combat training tasks within the framework of the tactical flight exercise, which started today in three regions of Russia.

During the first stage of the exercise in the Chelyabinsk Region, Perm and Krasnoyarsk Territories, about 20 aircraft took off on an alarm signal. The crews of the MiG-31, Su-34 and Su-24MR withdrew combat vehicles from the air strike of a simulated enemy and flew to alternate airfields, covering a total of about 3.5 thousand kilometers.

During the main stage of the exercise, the Su-24MR pilots will work out the tasks of aerial reconnaissance and opening the areas where the “enemy” is located, the Su-34 crews will bombard infrastructure facilities, fortifications and fire weapons of the imaginary enemy. MiG-31 interceptor fighters will provide air cover for the areas where combat training missions are being performed, which will work out the detection, escort, destruction and forcing the “violators” of air borders to land.

The tactical flight exercise of the Central Military District’s aviation division will end in mid-October, it involves about 20 aircraft from three air regiments and about 500 servicemen from among the flight, engineering and technical personnel, the control and flight support group.
