About 2 thousand motorized riflemen of the 49th combined-arms army of the Southern Military District (YuVO), stationed in the Stavropol Territory, were alerted and began a multi-kilometer march to participate in a two-way brigade tactical exercise at the Opuk training ground in Crimea.

On the march, the units of the Southern Military District will overcome more than 1.1 thousand km in a combined way. While traveling on military equipment, motorized riflemen, in cooperation with attached subunits, will repel the air raid of the simulated enemy and the attack of the reconnaissance and sabotage group. Upon arrival in the area of ​​the exercise, the servicemen will conduct radiation, chemical and biological (RCB) reconnaissance and, having overcome the contaminated area of ​​the terrain, set up a field camp.

During the exercise at the Opuk training ground from October 25 to October 29, the personnel of the formation will work out the tasks of conducting a defensive battle, searching for and destroying sabotage and reconnaissance groups, exiting the battle and retreating to designated areas for regrouping forces and equipment.

In accordance with the requirements of the commander of the district troops, special attention will be paid to the interaction of motorized rifle subunits and helicopters of army aviation for pinpoint destruction of imaginary enemy targets from the air.

More than 100 units of armored and wheeled vehicles, including T-72B3 tanks, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, and Msta-S self-propelled artillery mounts, were involved in the exercise at the Opuk training ground.
