Thanks to the BCL and the MCC, a third of Muscovites will receive new schemes of movement between the districts. And the completion of the construction of all chord lines will improve the ecological situation. A fundamentally new public transport system also allows the creation of the Moscow Central Diameters.

The creation of a new transport frame in Moscow will relieve the city’s transport network by 20 percent. It will be based on four chord lines: North-West, North-East, South-East chords and South Rokada. Sergei Sobyanin spoke about this live on TV Center.

“They have already removed the load from the Third Transport Ring (TTK), but the project will start operating as efficiently as possible when it is fully implemented,” the Moscow Mayor said. – When the Northeast Expressway merges with the Southeast Expressway, with the Southern Expressway, it will have a tremendous effect. Some experts believe that this will unload the transport network by 20 percent, make it more uniform and logically correct. Accordingly, the ecological situation will improve by 20 percent, because today cars have a serious impact on it ”.

The total length of the chord lines will be 138 kilometers, and the construction length will be over 360 kilometers, which is comparable to the length of four TTKs. The construction of the North-West Expressway has already been completed, traffic is open on seven sections of the North-East Expressway and two sections of the South Road.

They plan to finish work on the remaining sections by 2023… The Chords will improve the transport accessibility of 73 districts of Moscow, connect outbound highways, and reduce the congestion of inter-district roads, the Third Transport Ring and the Moscow Ring Road.

Another project that Moscow will complete by 2023 is the construction of the Big Circle Line (BCL) metro. A third of the stations on the new line have already been put into operation, and another third will be commissioned in the near future.

“The technical run has already passed, engineering work is being completed, landscaping, commissioning and so on are underway. Then there will be two-thirds of this ring, and there will be another third for next year, – added the Mayor of Moscow. “At the end of next or early 2023, I hope the ring will close.”

The construction of the BCL has become the largest metro construction project: the new line will stretch for 70 kilometers, connecting the districts, the radial directions of the metro and the railway. In total, the BCL will have 31 stations, 12 of them have already been opened. By the end of the year, they will simultaneously put into operation 10 more stations new ring.

After the opening, the Big Circle Line will become the longest metro ring in the world, overtaking the current record holder – the second ring line of the Beijing Metro – by 13 kilometers.

Thanks to the BCL and the MCC, a third of Muscovites will receive new schemes of movement between the districts.

“The ground ring and the underground ring are two such new hearts of our transport system, two new hearts of Moscow. These are the most important projects for the entire transport infrastructure, citizens, – said Sergei Sobyanin. – They will relieve the central lines of the metro, the central parts of the radial directions. This means that the Moscow metro will be freer and more comfortable. “

Today, the city is working on more than just the Great Circle Line. Moscow is actively building Biryulevskaya and Troitskaya metro lines. The latter will become one of the longest radial directions and will reach Troitsk.

A fundamentally new public transport system is being built and with the help of Moscow central diameters (WDC). The first two of them have already been put into operation, the third, fourth and fifth diameters are being built and designed. They will make it possible to fully integrate railways with urban passenger transport. The former commuter trains are getting a new look, status and functionality, creating a common surface metro for Moscow and the Moscow region.

Today MCD is the most popular lines, along which more than half a million people move every day.

“Moreover, this increase took place in view of the pandemic, when a significant part of residents began to use personal transport or simply minimize their travels. During this time, we have built new stations, in fact, train stations, transfers to other railway lines, the MCC and so on, and we are actively engaged in the construction of MCD-3, MCD-4, MCD-5, ”Sergei Sobyanin said.

According to him, Moscow is the only European example of the creation of such powerful transport communications in several years.
