Anyone can join the environmental campaign.

Specialists Mosprirody and volunteers installed more than 200 feeders and nests for birds and squirrels in the natural areas of the capital. Environmentalists do this work every fall. According to experts, more than 750 devices for forest dwellers have already been placed in the Moscow forests: about 500 feeders and more than 250 birdhouses.

Everyone can help birds and animals. Within the framework of the ecological action “Leaf fall of good deeds”, it is possible not only to prepare and hang out feeders and nesting places, but also to put things in order in natural areas and create social advertising on the topic of nature protection.

“Apartments” of tits, sparrows and squirrels

Artificial nests are usually needed where young trees grow and there is a shortage of natural hollows. In the cold season, birdhouses and titmouses will become a home for birds. Feathered will be where to spend the night and warm up in cold weather.

For squirrels, large nest boxes are made – houses carved from a tree trunk. In winter they warm themselves with pleasure in such places. There are even special houses where bats live for the winter.

“Canteens” for birds and animals

Feeders for birds and squirrels should be placed in small forest clearings and forest edges. There should be dense bushes or conifers nearby. At the same time, Mospriroda experts do not recommend using them ahead of time.

It is important to start feeding birds and animals only under certain weather conditions (these are low air temperatures and constant snow cover), when it becomes difficult for animals to find food. If you do this earlier, forest dwellers can lose the skill of independently obtaining food and become dependent on humans.
