Today, 443 submariners received a second vaccination against coronavirus infection at the branch of the Northern Fleet naval hospital in the Zaozersk garrison. Servicemen of the submarine forces are fully vaccinated with the domestic two-component drug “Sputnik V”. The revaccination has already been completed by the submarine crews in preparation for their combat service missions.

As at the beginning of the vaccination campaign, which started in the Northern Fleet on December 1 last year, the first to receive vaccinations are the crews of ships, submarines, which will have to perform their assigned tasks at sea for a long time, as well as servicemen of units of constant combat readiness and those on alert. Also, in the first place, vaccinations are received by medical workers who are at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, and representatives of the command staff.

As the acting chief of the Northern Fleet medical service Andrei Zhdanov noted at the beginning of the week, the main efforts of naval doctors are focused on revaccination.

“The first component revaccinated about 25 percent of the planned number. Of the number that had to be vaccinated in October, 62 percent were vaccinated with the first component, and 27 percent with the second, ”said Andrei Zhdanov.

Revaccination in the Northern Fleet is taking place at a rate of 350 to 550 people per day. Vaccinations are done in naval medical institutions and in first aid posts of military units.

The stock of vaccines stored in the units of the Naval Clinical Hospital of the Northern Fleet is sufficient to provide revaccination of not only all military personnel and civilian specialists of the Northern Fleet, but also their family members.

The situation with the incidence of new coronavirus infection among servicemen in the Northern Fleet and in the Armed Forces in general, thanks to the active vaccination campaign, is minimal. This compares favorably with the statistics in the Northern Fleet from the regions in which its forces and troops are deployed. More than 500 cases of the disease are recorded daily in the Murmansk, Arkhangelsk regions and the Komi Republic, some of which are fatal. The reason for this is that military and civilian doctors are inclined to consider the insufficiently responsible approach of sick citizens to preserve their health and the refusal to vaccinate.

Of the total number of cases in the Northern Fleet, not a single case of severe illness or death, which sometimes happened before the start of the vaccine, was registered for several months.
