It will reduce the load on the power center and reduce power losses. The work is scheduled to be completed in December.

The capital’s power engineers have started replacing the autotransformer at the Baskakovo substation. The work is being carried out as part of the third stage of reconstruction of the substation and is planned to be completed in December, the press service of the Moscow city economy complex said.

A new autotransformer with improved characteristics and reliability indicators will reduce the load on the supply center and reduce power losses. In addition, the power engineers will replace two control transformers with a capacity of 40 megawatt-amperes each with transformers with a capacity of 63 megawatt-amperes. This will create a reserve capacity for connecting new subscribers. Electromechanical relay protection devices, automation and telemechanics will also be replaced with more modern microprocessor devices from Russian manufacturers.

Earlier, at the Baskakovo substation, the electrical equipment of an open switchgear with a capacity of 220 kilovolts was replaced, including one autotransformer with a capacity of 200 megawatt-amperes. Instead of six oil circuit breakers, modern environmentally friendly SF6 circuit breakers were installed. They are more reliable in operation and have better switching characteristics.

Modernization of the Baskakovo substation will improve the quality and reliability of power supply to 1.5 million HLW consumers, in particular the Veshnyaki, Novogireevo and Novokosino districts, and a number of socially significant facilities. Among them – the city clinical hospital № 15 named after OM. Filatov, the Perovo district heating station, Veshnyaki gas distribution center, Yuzhno-Izmailovskaya pumping station, 20 schools and two kindergartens.

The project is being implemented by Rosseti Moscow Region.
