On the basis of the FBU “Penza Center for Standardization and Metrology” Associate Professor of the Department of General Professional Disciplines Ph.D. Yuri Golubinsky conducted a field lesson with cadets of the Penza branch of the Military Academy of Logistics, dedicated to the World Standardization Day on the topic “The role of standards and measurement standards in the technical support of weapons and military equipment.”

The purpose of the lesson was a practical demonstration of sophisticated calibration equipment used for metrological support of weapons and military equipment.

The cadets got acquainted with working standards in the field of radio and electrical measurements, actual samples of medical equipment in a pandemic, the use of high-precision measuring machines and geometric measuring instruments with electronic visualization of measurement results, the operation of flow and metering devices for petroleum products, modern electronic systems for calibrating high-precision dispensers, and also installations for verification of weighing instruments and measures of mass.

The cadets’ particular interest was aroused by the calibration of the device for determining the air flow rate on a new aerodynamic installation (hot-wire anemometer), as well as complexes and measuring instruments operating in different temperature ranges.

As a result of the on-site lesson, the cadets gained knowledge in the field of application of standards and measurement standards, gave ideas about the use of measuring instruments, installations and complexes used in the technical support of weapons and military equipment.
