On October 20, Moscow hosted the third meeting of the Moscow format on Afghanistan with the participation of representatives from Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as a high-ranking delegation of the Taliban Movement representing Afghanistan. To the participants of the event appealed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov. He had a separate meeting with representatives of the leadership of the Taliban Movement.

During the meeting, the prospects for the development of the military-political situation in Afghanistan were discussed. The importance of forming an inclusive Afghan government, reflecting the interests of all ethnopolitical forces of the country, was emphasized as a key step towards promoting inter-Afghan national reconciliation.

Concern was expressed about the manifestation of the activity of international terrorist organizations in Afghanistan, primarily ISIS. The sides reaffirmed their intention to continue rendering assistance to ensure peace and security in Afghanistan and the region.

Taking into account the difficult socio-economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the sides noted the readiness to coordinate efforts to assist the post-conflict reconstruction of the country.

Following the meeting, it was adopted joint statement with a call for a representative international donor conference on Afghanistan under the auspices of the UN.
