In the Saratov region, on the basis of the Volsk military institute of material support, a chef competition was held among teams from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, South Ossetia, Guinea-Bissau and Russia.

The competition was held as part of the celebration of the International Day of the Chef, which is celebrated in more than 70 countries around the world on October 20. The participants prepared different national dishes for the assessment. Among them are pies, soups, salads and juices. The names of the dishes range from the famous “Khinkali”, “Ossetian pie”, “Dolma”, “Lagman” to the Guinean “Koldu Bimmakarda” and “Ondyu”. After cooking, each dish was checked for calorie content using the laboratory “Determination of the quality of food”, as well as evaluated for organoleptic indicators.

After the end of the competition, the “Day of National Cuisines” was held in the dining room of the Volsk Institute, where the cadets of the educational institution could not only familiarize themselves with the competitive dishes, but also with the national flavor. For this, the cadets of the foreign faculty talked about the peculiarities of the culture, traditions and customs of their countries, sang songs in their native languages.

The holiday ended with a quiz between the teams on the theme “A military chef is the backbone of the rear!” and presentation of diplomas and gifts to the winners and prize-winners of the competition.
