Dmitry Chernyshenko, within the framework of his working visit to Mordovia, visited the enterprise JSC “Fiber Optic Systems”

The vice-premier, together with the head of the republic Artyom Zdunov, examined the production facilities of the plant, where it is planned to switch to a full-cycle technology – that is, to abandon foreign raw materials in favor of domestic ones. This will allow in the future to use Russian materials to provide high-speed Internet access throughout the country.

“Internet access is one of 42 strategic initiatives approved by the Government. And entering the full cycle of fiber production is a key frontier for the region. We are well aware of the importance of this material in the IT sphere, and now, when we are faced with global tasks for digital transformation, its production in the country is a key stage in the implementation of these plans, ”said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that, despite the country’s policy of import substitution, 76% of the Russian optical fiber market is still occupied by foreign manufacturers. “We need to use domestic materials – this is the issue of import substitution, which the President tells us about. The transition to a full cycle of fiber production in Mordovia will cover the market demand by 90%, ”noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Artyom Zdunov thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for the support of Mordovia in expanding the sales market for the republican optical fiber. Thanks to the assistance, it was possible to occupy more than 24% of the country’s annual turnover.

“It is strategically important for us to develop a fiber-optic cluster and establish a full production cycle, abandoning foreign preforms. By organizing production in Saransk, we will be able to increase the volume of production, occupy the plant’s capacity by 100%, without depending on foreign suppliers. Negotiations are underway to establish partnerships with leading telecom operators. The share of Mordovian optical fiber in the Russian market should constantly grow, ”said the head of Mordovia Artyom Zdunov.
