The Mi-26 helicopter of the Central Military District, stationed in the Sverdlovsk Region, will be named after the hero of the Soviet Union, Colonel-General Vitaly Pavlov. The decision was made by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu. The solemn ceremony will take place on October 28, the day of the formation of the army aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, at a military airfield in the city of Kamensk-Uralsky.

Vitaly Grigorievich Pavlov – Soviet and Russian pilot and military leader, in 1983 he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. He performed international duty in Afghanistan (1981-1982) as the commander of a separate mixed aviation regiment, flew 307 sorties with 567 hours of flight time. During the Chechen campaign, he flew 156 combat missions.
