In Kabardino-Balkaria, the crews of the army aviation of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and the Air Defense of the Western Military District began to perform combat training tasks as part of a methodological training session.

Crews of multipurpose helicopters Mi-8 and Mi-28 “Night Hunter” will work out piloting elements at high altitudes, when flying around mountain ranges and gorges, shooting at a conventional enemy, landing on mountain sites of limited size.

A particular challenge for pilots and navigators when flying in mountainous terrain is thin air, which reduces the maneuverability of combat helicopters and complicates the landing of transport helicopters.

To train the landing in such conditions, a special landing technique “low-speed glide path” has been developed, in which the aircraft “plans”, descending to the landing site from a high altitude with a smooth decrease in speed.

In total, more than 50 specialists of the flight and navigational personnel of the army aviation of the association take part in the planned event of combat training.
