The multilevel reconnaissance system was created within the framework of a bilateral command-and-staff exercise with groups of forces in the South-West strategic direction.

The air group of unmanned aerial vehicles “Orlan-10”, “Takhion”, “Forpost” ensured continuous aerial reconnaissance to identify and guaranteed destruction of the forces and means of the imaginary enemy.

Acting in conjunction with the “Strelets” intelligence complex for command and control (CRUS) equipped with the GLONASS satellite navigation system, unmanned aerial vehicles with a high degree of efficiency organized the identification of detected objects, the calculation of their coordinates, target designation and data preparation for the effective use of weapons.

KRUS “Strelets” allows mobile reconnaissance elements equipped with a “friend or foe” identification system to interface with all domestic reconnaissance means, radars and aiming devices.

At the tactical level, the “Irony” optical-electronic complex was also used, which was put into service with the special forces of the Southern Military District. He provided round-the-clock and all-weather visual reconnaissance and the transfer of coordinates to fire weapons for the destruction of weapons, military equipment and objects of a simulated enemy.

In the South of Russia and in the places of deployment of Russian military bases in the Transcaucasia, a bilateral command-staff exercise is being held to control troops in the South-West strategic direction.

Under the leadership of the commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, battalion tactical groups of formations and military units of the district, in a single tactical plan, conduct bilateral tactical exercises at 25 combined-arms training grounds located in the Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, in the Kuban and Stavropol regions, in the republics of the North Caucasus, in Crimea, as well as at Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
