In accordance with the instructions of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the CIS member states, a series of lectures on military security issues is being held for officials of the military departments and the teaching staff of the higher military educational institutions of the Commonwealth countries.

The lectures were organized by the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states together with the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation – the basic organization of the CIS member states in the field of operational and strategic training of officers of the armed forces.

The cycle of lectures, aimed at improving the level of professional and official training of officers, includes more than 20 lectures, the conduct of which is planned monthly during the academic year.

The first lectures held by the Military Academy of General Staff of the RF Armed Forces in the mode of videoconference in June-July of this year demonstrated the practical relevance of a new format of interaction between military academies and institutions of the Commonwealth states. This is evidenced by the participation in the classes not only of students and teaching staff, but also of the leadership of higher military educational institutions.

In the interests of developing cooperation in the field of military education and training, the Secretariat of the CIS CMO, with the support of the defense ministries of the CIS member states, initiated participation in the lectures of leading national military universities.

On the next lecture day, the Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan held its first lecture on regional security issues. In November-December, the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus and the National Defense University named after the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy will take over the baton.

Summing up the results of the work done, the Secretary of the CIS CMO, Major General Yuri Dashkin, noted that the combined efforts of the leading military universities of our states made it possible to significantly expand the topics of the educational cycle, enrich its content and deepen understanding of the problems of national and joint security of the Commonwealth countries.
