In St. Petersburg, a parachute jump training was held for the rescue paratrooper group of a separate helicopter regiment of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District.

The servicemen performed jumps to delay the opening of the backpack and landing on a site of limited size.

The exercise is performed at an altitude of 1700 meters. After 20 seconds of free fall, the parachute opens and lands at the specified landing point.

The jumps were performed with the help of a special-purpose parachute system “Arbalet-1”, designed to perform special tasks with landing on unprepared sites in adverse weather conditions.

Among the military parachutists, the master of sports in parachuting, ensign Svetlana Shirova, (more than 6,000 jumps), and the master of sports of international class in parachuting, ensign Olga Koshkina, who have made more than 7,500 jumps, took part in the training.

During the training, 8 flights of the Mi-8 multipurpose helicopter were made, more than 40 parachute jumps were made.
