Subdivisions of railway formations and military units of the Southern Military District (YuVO) during the practical stage of the bilateral command and staff exercise (KShU) in the Volgograd region restored over 10 km of the railway.

The servicemen made a march in standard vehicles to the mission areas on the sections of the railway track damaged by a conditional illegal armed formation. On the march, the specialists worked out air defense, overcame the conditionally contaminated areas of the terrain.

Arriving in the indicated areas, the servicemen performed engineering reconnaissance, anti-mine support and repelled the attack of the sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the mock enemy. In addition to rebuilding the railway, the servicemen also erected a temporary railway bridge across the river.

The military personnel of the Southern Military District carried out large-scale work on the construction of the roadbed and laying the railway track using a metal collapsible overpass REM-500 and a steel superstructure SRP-33.6.

The production of frames from beams and pile driving on the water was carried out by the USA-2 universal piling unit. The work was carried out by more than 200 specialists from the Southern Military District.

The exercise was carried out within the framework of a bilateral command and staff exercise (KSHU) for command and control of the district troops in the South-West strategic direction under the leadership of the commander of the Southern Military District, Army General Alexander Dvornikov.

In total, about 8 thousand servicemen are involved in practical actions at 25 training grounds in the Southern Military District, about 350 units of weapons and military equipment from the combined arms armies, air force and air defense formations, formations and units of the combat arms and special forces of district subordination, the forces of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla …
