The Russian 201st military base in Tajikistan annually trains up to 1,000 junior specialists for the national armed forces. Colonel Yevgeny Okhrimenko, the chief of staff of the unit, told reporters on Sunday.

“One of the tasks of the unit is to train junior specialists of the Tajik army in 14 basic specialties. Every year, Russian instructors train up to one thousand servicemen of the national armed forces, ”said Okhrimenko, adding that to date, more than 6 thousand people have already been trained.

He specified that instructors of the Russian military base train Tajik servicemen according to the programs: gunner-operator, driver-mechanic of a tank, an infantry fighting vehicle, gunner of an armored personnel carrier, commander of a multiple launch rocket system, gunner of a self-propelled artillery gun and other specialties.

The chief of staff of the compound noted that the 201st military base is fully staffed with contract servicemen, most of whom took part in the implementation of tasks in Syria. “The personnel maintain a high level of combat readiness and are ready to respond to any threats in the Central Asian region,” he added.

According to him, two military schools, a kindergarten and a hospital equipped with modern equipment operate on the territories of military camps deployed in Dushanbe and Bokhtar. The construction of a new soldiers’ dormitory of the cockpit type has been completed. In accordance with the decision of the Minister of Defense, the construction of a cultural and leisure center and a universal sports and training complex “Start” is underway.
