The Russian 201st military base in Tajikistan will update its fleet of combat vehicles, having received 30 improved T-72B3M tanks by the end of this year. Colonel Yevgeny Okhrimenko, the chief of staff of the unit, told reporters on Sunday.

“At present, the military base units are being re-equipped with modern models of military and special equipment. By the end of the year, it is planned to receive 30 modern T-72B3M tanks with improved combat characteristics to replace combat vehicles of earlier modifications, ”said Okhrimenko.

He also said that recently a batch of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles of modern modification entered service with the motorized rifle units of the 201st base, the newest portable anti-aircraft missile systems “Verba”, jet infantry flamethrowers of increased range and power, anti-tank missile systems “Kornet” were delivered. sniper rifles ASVK-M “Kord” of 12.7 mm caliber, AK-12 assault rifles, sanitary armored vehicles “Linza”, equipment of logistic and technical support services.

The chief of staff noted that the personnel of the formation during exercises of various levels are successfully mastering new weapons, practicing effective forms of warfare, taking into account the experience of modern armed conflicts.

According to him, in the joint CSTO exercises “Interaction-2021” and the special exercises “Echelon-2021” and “Poisk-2021”, which were practiced at the Tajik training grounds “Harb-Maidon” and “Momirak”, the bulk of the Russian contingent was made up of personnel of 201 th military base. More than 1.5 thousand servicemen of the compound were involved in practical actions.
