Today, a gala concert was held at the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army, in which the winners of the Review-Competition of Military Conductors, which ended the day before in Moscow, took part.

The gala concert dedicated to the centenary of the formation of the Military Orchestral Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was held on the birthday of one of the founders of Soviet military music, a prominent specialist in military orchestral affairs, conductor, composer and musical and public figure, laureate of the USSR State Prize , Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR, Professor Major General Semyon Aleksandrovich Chernetsky.

Deputy Colonel-General Sergei Istrakov addressed the military musicians with congratulations from the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

“The military orchestral service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in peacetime and wartime takes an active part in military parades, reviews, ritual and solemn events, thereby fostering patriotism, love for the Fatherland of servicemen, their spiritual and cultural development,” said the Deputy Chief of the General Staff.

In addition, the General Staff noted the importance of military musicians in raising the morale of the Russian army.

“Continuing and enhancing the glorious traditions of their predecessors, daily improving their skills and training, military musicians invariably raise morale, energize and inspire the personnel of the army and navy to solve important and responsible tasks facing them,” noted Sergei Istrakov.

Also, Colonel General Istrakov expressed confidence that “in the future, highly qualified professionals will honor their military duty and thereby make a worthy contribution to strengthening the authority and power of our Great Motherland.”

As part of the concert, the audience was presented with performances by military musicians’ collectives under the leadership of the laureates of the Review-Competition of military conductors: Lieutenant Maxim Romanov, Guard Lieutenant Alexei Suslov and Captain Denis Goldorf.

The audience also heard musical compositions performed by Honored Artist of Russia Yan Osin, laureates of all-Russian and international competitions Svetlana Ilyina, Yulia Rogacheva, as well as the Suvorov Choir of the Moscow Military Music School named after Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov and cadets of the Military Institute (military conductors).

The concert ended with a performance by the combined military orchestra led by the Chief of the Military Orchestra Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation – Chief Military Conductor, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Major General Timofey Mayakin.
