Engineering divisions of the Southern Military District (YuVO) used robotic systems “Uran-6” to clean up explosive objects (EPOs) from agricultural land in the Chechen Republic and the Republic of Ingushetia.

In addition, the specialists of the engineering units used armored demining vehicles BMR-M based on the T-72 tank with a track mine sweep and engineering vehicles for clearing the IMR.

To perform tasks in the motorized rifle formations of the 58th combined-arms army of the Southern Military District, about 20 mobile demining groups were created. The servicemen are equipped with effective means of protection, such as a sapper’s protective suit (ZKS) “Dublon” and mine detectors “Korshun”. The dogs of the mine detection service are also involved in the tasks.

The works are carried out in Shelkovsky, Grozny, Urus-Martanovsky, Shalinsky and Kurchaloisky districts of the Chechen Republic as well as in Sunzhensky and Dzheyrakhsky districts of the Republic of Ingushetia.

Robotic systems “Uran-6” are equipped with several types of trawls for working with various types of soil, withstand blasting up to 60 kg of TNT. In addition, the equipment of the complex allows you to detect dangerous objects, and then determine their type.

The complex is controlled by an operator using a remote control at a distance of up to a kilometer, which significantly increases the safety of sappers when working with explosive objects, and provides a safe distance when mines and shells burst.

The engineers of the Southern Military District began work on mine clearance and the complete cleaning of the area of Chechnya and Ingushetia from explosives in May 2012. In total, it was planned to clear about 16 thousand hectares of agricultural land and forestry, but in 9 years the military personnel surveyed about 23 thousand hectares, discovering and destroying more than 40 thousand explosive objects.
