During the navigation season, municipal vessels collect garbage and remove silt from the bottom every day.
More than 600 tons of garbage was collected by the municipal fleet in the water area of Moscow this year, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for housing and communal services and improvement. Peter Biryukov.
“The municipal economy complex has a unique service – the communal fleet, which is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the Moskva River and the navigable part of the Yauza, – noted Pyotr Biryukov. “With the opening of navigation, its vessels are daily engaged in collecting garbage from the water surface, eliminating pollution, removing silt sediment from the bottom of the rivers. This year we have collected about 600 tons of floating debris and removed about 80 contaminants ”.
Garbage collection is carried out by specialized waste collection vessels; small vessels operate in areas with a shallow depth. For bottom sediments of sand and soil, floating cranes and non-self-propelled scows with tugs are used.
“Thanks to the competent arrangement of the fleet and garbage collection bases, the entire water area of the Moskva River and the navigable section of the Yauza within the MKAD are under round-the-clock control,” stressed Pyotr Biryukov. – In the routine mode, garbage collectors collected about 20-25 tons of garbage every week, and up to 100 tons every month. High-speed oil skimmer boats monitored the situation on the water and promptly responded to requests related to the detection of contamination. “
The head of the municipal economy complex said that most of the garbage is collected in the water area in the upper reaches of the Moskva River, which makes it possible to ensure the cleanliness of the main channel downstream.
In the north-west of Moscow, the percentage of bulky waste removal is higher – branches, tree trunks, construction waste. In the central districts of the capital, small floating debris was mainly removed – bottles, polystyrene, plastic, car tires.
“Compared to 2020, there was a 13 percent decrease in the volume of floating debris and a 23 percent decrease in the occurrence of spots in the water area of Moscow rivers,” stressed Pyotr Biryukov. – The intensity of pollution has decreased, which undoubtedly indicates an increase in the ecological culture of the townspeople. “
The capital’s communal fleet operates all year round, even after the end of seasonal navigation, two vessels with an ice class of up to 20 centimeters of ice remain on the water. The main part of the fleet during the inter-navigation period moves to the shore for maintenance and repair.
Embankments of Moscow
The city pays attention not only to the water area, but also to the embankments. The program for the comprehensive development of the banks of the Moskva River has been implemented since 2010. Routes along the river are becoming more beautiful and more comfortable: pedestrian zones, observation platforms, bike paths, benches, new trees and shrubs appear.
“The space along the Moskva River is approximately 50 percent equipped, comfortable conditions have been created. A whole program of putting in order the coastal zone of the Moskva River and reservoirs is currently operating in the city, and our task is to fully implement it in the next four years, “said Pyotr Biryukov.
The very first was put in order the Crimean embankment. It became a continuation of Vorobyevskaya, Andreevskaya and Pushkinskaya embankments: a 12-kilometer route connected Gorky Park and the arrow of Bolotny Island. A 19-kilometer pedestrian route from Taganka to Moscow City has been created in the historical part of the city. This year, four embankments of Balchug were improved.
The embankments are being transformed not only in the center: in 2019, a park was made in Kapotnya on the banks of the Moskva River and connected with the park of the 850th anniversary of Moscow.
In the coming years, it is planned to improve all the embankments of the capital. The coastline of the Moskva River will turn into a continuous walking route.
