Russian regions will additionally receive more than 56 billion rubles to cover the costs associated with the provision of medical insurance. The order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

This support will help to focus additional resources on the response to COVID-19, including financial support for inpatient care.

“People will continue to receive treatment completely free of charge – under the compulsory medical insurance policy – in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation,” Mikhail Mishustin said on a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council for the fight against coronavirus on October 26.

The Ministry of Health was instructed to conclude all the necessary agreements with the regions within 30 days and monitor the efficiency of spending federal funds.

In June-July, 110 billion rubles have already been allocated for these purposes. Additional funding will help increase the safety margin of health care systems in the regions, and will allow to continue to fight the spread of coronavirus without reducing the cost of routine medical care.
