MIL OSI Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

The Novaya Zemlya archipelago is one of the harshest places in Russia for military service, work and life. The Russian Ministry of Defense is constantly working to develop the infrastructure of the archipelago, to provide high-quality and uninterrupted trade, household, social and communal services.

Due to the remoteness of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago from the mainland, the constant generation of electricity is carried out by especially powerful diesel generator sets (DGS). With the improvement of social and living conditions, there is an additional need to provide electricity to newly built facilities.

At the direction of the Department of Operational Maintenance and Provision of Utilities for Military Units and Organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense, a branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution TsZhKU of the Ministry of Defense of Russia (12 GU MO) carried out measures for the relocation and further technological connection of 8 diesel generator sets (each weighing more than 20 tons, power – 1.2 MW).

Such a large-scale task was carried out in several stages:

The first stage is the dismantling and delivery of diesel generator sets from the Patriot park (Kubinka) of the Moscow region to the port of Severodvinsk (the distance is about 1250 km). During the dismantling, truck cranes (with a maximum lifting capacity of 350 tons) were used. In total, 10 pieces of equipment and 16 people were involved in loading operations.

The second stage is loading the diesel generator set on the Yauza ship. Loading onto the ship was carried out using a crane installed on the deck, with great assistance from the ship’s crew.

The third stage – delivery of the units by a sea vessel from the port of Severodvinsk to the port of Belushya Guba (arch. Novaya Zemlya)

The fourth stage is unloading, installation and connection of the diesel generator set to the existing power grid.

In parallel with the delivery of the DGU by specialists of the housing and communal service No. 3 of the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “TsZhKU” of the Ministry of Defense of Russia (12 GU MO), together with the servicemen of the 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, planning and preparation of sites for their installation were carried out. The above works are carried out in stages, separately for each DGU.

The delivery of powerful power plants will allow for a long time to ensure an uninterrupted supply of electricity and the implementation of the infrastructure development of the Russian Arctic.
