On October 28, the Republic of Kalmykia hosted a meeting of the XVIII Joint Russian-Mongolian Commission for Cooperation in the Prevention of Industrial Accidents, Natural Disasters and Elimination of Their Consequences. Deputy Head of the EMERCOM of Russia Ilya Denisov met with the head of the State Agency for Emergency Situations of Mongolia Gombozhav Ariunbuyan. The event was also attended by the head of the region Batu Hasikov.

I. Denisov stressed: “The cooperation of the two departments, despite the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, continued quite actively. At the same time, there are many areas in which we could improve our interaction or exchange knowledge and experience. “

One of the most important events of the two departments this year was the September training camp of divers in Mongolia on Lake Khubsugul. Then the specialists of the Baikal search and rescue detachment of the EMERCOM of Russia examined the southern part of the lake for the presence of sunken vehicles and ships in it. They conducted theoretical studies for Mongolian divers.

The parties also discussed the prospects for further development of bilateral relations in the field of monitoring, prevention and elimination of transboundary wildfires and flooding, as well as education and training of specialists.

The Mongolian colleagues showed a particular interest in the integrated system of prevention and management of emergencies and confirmed their readiness to implement the agreements already reached.

“I am especially pleased to note the fact that the meeting of the Commission is being held in the fraternal republic. We intend to continue our cooperation in the prevention of emergencies. I would like to note the importance of the exchange of emergency information between our departments. We hope that despite the difficult epidemiological situation, the training of Mongolian specialists will continue in the educational institutions of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, ”said G. Ariunbuyan, head of the State Agency for Emergency Situations of Mongolia.

At the end of the meeting of the Joint Commission, the parties approved a plan of joint activities for 2022–2023. Then the Mongolian delegation got acquainted with the organization of work of the duty shift of the Crisis Management Center of the regional headquarters and the procedure for interaction with other interested departments involved in eliminating the consequences of emergencies.

Also, for foreign guests, demonstration fire-tactical exercises were organized on the territory of the Kalmyk ethnocultural gymnasium, during which the procedure for the actions of personnel, techniques and methods of rescuing people from the upper floors of the building were worked out.
